Guide to Niigata

Niigata Prefecture is situated on the western coast of the northern part Honshu Island, adjacent to the sea of Japan, north west of Tokyo.

There are a number of products for which Niigata is famous, for example rice, which it is Japans 2nd highest producing prefecture, sake (rice wine) which it is 3rd highest producing prefecture.

This guide largely concentrates on Nagaoka and Ojiya, these cities being closest to the majority of Nishikigoi breeders in Niigata Prefecture.
