Nishikigoi Niigata Direct was founded in October 2005 as a colaboration between Makoto Tanaka (Marusho Koi Farm), Fujio Oomo (Oomo Koi Farm), Yasuaki Kaneko (Kaneko Koi Farm) and Tamikazu Kobayashi (koi-breeders.jp). Whilst still utilising all of the facilities of the original farms a new facility was constructed in the village of Takiya situated midway between Nagaoka and Ojiya adjacent to the main Route 17.
The new facility consists of 3 Koi houses as well as an office building and the 'Club Lounge Sakura' where visitors can relax and take refreshments. The main varieties produced Marusho Sanke, Oomo Showa and Kaneko Kujaku and Shiro Utsuri. In addition Doitsu Kujaku, Beni Kikokuryu, Koromo, Doitsu Ochiba, Ginrin Hajiro, Ginrin Showa, Ginrin Sanke, Doitsu Sanke, Doitsu Showa, Beni Kumonryu, Doitsu Hariwake, Shusui and Chagoi are also produced.
