Oyagoi set for action at NND

As I mentioned yesterday - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/791 - this morning was an early start as 3 sets of oyagoi were to be paired up as spawning gets underway at NND.

I met up with Makoto Tanaka and Fujio Oomo at NND's Takiya facility where 2 of the females and 1 male were residing and from where they'd be taken to the Marusho facility in Yamogihira.

I've previously mentioned a stunning Marusho Sanke at NND - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/722.  It transpired that this Koi was to be one of today's oyagoi.  This Koi is now sansai and 73cm in length.  It was also used as oyagoi last year when just a nisai and spawned many of the jumbo tosai Sanke released 2 weeks ago - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/772 and http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/771.

Anyway, here she is, the picture doesn't portray the presence this Koi has in the flesh, nor the impressive frame of the Koi.

This Showa is Oomo's number 1 oyagoi.  From memory I think 5 years old and 76cm, it's confirmed on the video that will available tomorrow showing the whole spawning.

This is the Sanke with the 2 males that are her companions for the day and night.

Likewise the Showa.

This is the 3rd parent set, the female being the Koi at the bottom of the picture.

Oomo san on the left and Makoto san on the right observing the oyagoi and praying for a good result tonight.

As I suspected yesterday the spawning will be carried out naturally, I'll be returning at 9pm to see how it's going.
