A day with Kolle Zoo - final stops, Masaki and Otsuka

Following the visit to Koda we headed over to Koguriyama to visit Masaki.  Unfortunately Masaki san wasn't there so not much to report, the guys had a look in the main pond which you can see here - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/687 - and earmarked a few Koi they will return to look at more closely and then checked the tosai which you can also see in the link above.

From there we stopped in at Otsuka on the way back to the hotel, again so the guys could look at the tosai available as well as some mixed nisai of which several boxes were ordered.

I'd never been in Otsuka's tosai houses and to be honest hadn't realised how many ponds there are on the facility.  Currently there are around 50,000 tosai still, some from spawnings as late at August last year.  As you can see from the pictures below there are a huge range of varieties amongst them.

There ended a very interesting day, I'll be joining up with the guys from Kolle Zoo again on Thursday and Friday as the go round completing their buying for the week.
