A day with Koicenter Tiel - 2nd stop Satoshi Tanaka

From Oofuchi we headed off towards Uonuma and another first for me, a visit to Satoshi Tanaka.  These ponds are located beneath the house and contain nisai and tosai.  My only previous knowledge of the breeder was that Gatwick Koi had purchased a whole vat of Koi that he had exhibited at the Niigata Nogyosai back in October.

The primary reason for visiting was that Joachim wanted to take a look at some Doitsu Ochiba Shigure that had been secured by Ornafish with a view to placing an order.  Because the Koi are being fed it was impossible to net the pond to hand pick the exact Koi to be purchased however Satoshi san picked out a few examples he deemed 'high class' which was what Joachim was after.  They were certainly very nice Koi and 2 boxes were duly ordered which the breeder will pick these from the 700 he has when time for shipping.

This one was particularly attractive, unfortunately it proved impossible to get a decent pic as it just stuck it's nose in the edge of the bowl and waved it's tail.

In addition to these there were some very nice nisai Showa and Ginrin Showa available.
