Forthcoming attractions in Ojiya...

I mentioned previously that an auction was taking place in Ojiya on the 22nd April.

The April issue of Nishikigoi Monthly has photographs of some of the Koi that will be auctioned at the event, a variety of tosai and nisai.

These particular Koi caught my eye, well the 4 on the left for the right reasons!

The 4 Koi on the right, if it's not obvious from the image, are Doitsu Goshiki.

A glance at the Sakura prize winners from the Wakagoi Show shows that Goshiki, and its ginrin variant, are very much in vogue at the moment.

It was back in October 2007 at Koshiji Koi Farm that Kase-san first showed me his Doitsu Goshiki tosai. They were probably around 10cm in length and I couldn't get too excited.  I'll be interested to see the Koi above in the flesh.

Of course there are many more 'regular' varieties on offer.

On the 26th April there is a celebration for the 20th anniversary of Nishikigoi no Sato, the 'Koi Museum' in Ojiya.

A selection of young Koi will be made available for sale at special prices and others events will take place including Mochitsuki and the sale of other local produce.
