An old favourite I caught up with in Indonesia

Anyone recognise or remember this Koi, I fell in love with it the first day I saw it.

Will post a much longer history of images of her later.

As has been correctly recalled in the feedback below, this Koi was indeed first auction as nisai at Sakai Koi Farm in October 2007.  Less that a third of the cost of the most expensive Koi at that auction.

I need to find other pics from 2008 where it was All Japan Adult Champion and 58bu Champion at the Wakagoi Show.  See some discussion about the Koi here - http://yamakoshi.blogspot.com/2008/11/rinyukai-show-old-friends-and.html.  The other Sanke featured at the 2011 Rinyukai Show.

The picture below was taken at the 2008 Rinyukai.

More to follow, I can track her for another couple of years I think.

This is her Feb 2010 at the All Japan Show.

There is some discussion about her sibling below, you can see both here as of 2010 - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/672.  At that link you'll also see the Showa that is tipped to challenge for this year's GC prize.

I do indeed Mark, this was
I do indeed Mark, this was the Koi that you liked from the SFF Auction I think back in 2007? It was the one that did not go for alot of money compared to the Sanke that at that time was the most expensive to be sold in an Auction in Japan. I think this one took the Adult Champion at the AJS, was this 2008 cannot remeber and was stunning!! Sure would like to know what size she is as the other Sanke most be nearing 87/8 cm and is still in Japan, I think maybe entered in this years AJS hopefully. Martin

75bu

Martin, sadly this Koi is still sub 75cm, I was amazed.  Kentaro called it right way back in April 2008, the other Koi was the Koi for the future.

Of course the other Koi was the 2011 All Japan Best in Variety - http://www.niigata-nishikigoi.com/node/1075.

A contender for this years GC?  We'll see, I understand a few of my other tips are now in fishy heaven.  Just 4 weeks time and we'll know.  Oh boy I've worked that out and now I'm even more excited, 2012 gets better and better!

I hope when you say "fishy
I hope when you say "fishy heaven" it is not the beautiful Dainichi Showa that Ryuki is looking after.............. I love that Koi more than Sakura, but maybe a little too small at 86/7cm for this years show but the Quality as you have pointed out is simply amazing, like you say, this along with the Sakai Sanke are sure to make Major Headlines soon, it will be very interesting when these beauties come up against each other for GC..... The Showa

Martin

I exchanged posts with Ryuki on Facebook a few months back, the Showa was fine.  I questioned size, he stated he felt no problem.

Several other Koi that I felt a year ahead have died as far as I'm aware.

4 weeks, just 4 weeks, the best weekend of the year, can't believe 48 weeks have passed so quick!

For those that don't know the Showa you refer to
