Hello, welcome to my new blog, my name is Hide Hirasawa. Some of you may know me as staff at Isa Koi Farm. I also breed my own Koi as well and look forward to telling you about them on Niigata-Nishikigoi.com
My father started breeding Doitsugoi around 16 years ago, I now breed them as well. My main variety is Doitsu Kohaku, this year one of my Doitsu Kohaku won 15bu Sakura prize at the All Japan Show. I also breed Doitsu Sanke, unfortunately my female parent died and the new one used last year is not very successful. A new challenge for me last year was to breed Doitsu Showa for the first time.
The photo's below show some of my tosai spawned last year.

Another high class Doitsu Kohaku.
I believe this Doitsu Kohaku is good enough to have gone to the All Japan Koi Show. It has been sold now but the customer is leaving it with me to grow this summer to nisai.
I also grow some Isa Showa too. These are some photos of some of this year's tosai that I have.

Our family home was destroyed in the 2004 Chuetsu earthquake. Our original Koi house still stands next to what was our home but the ponds are in it are quite small.
In the basement of our new house I have 2 concrete ponds. The only problem is that there is no sunlight. Because of this the beni on the Koi sometimes fades. When the Koi are put in the mudponds for the summer it comes back though.
I look forward to showing you more of my Koi in 2009.
